My name is Deena and I am a mom to four awesome kiddos. We were blessed to adopt our youngest daughter, Grace from Ethiopia in 2010. My husband Doug and I fell in love with Ethiopia and our desire is to continue to serve the people of Ethiopia who have enriched our lives so deeply. In addition to the 5 million orphans living in Ethiopia, there are also millions of young girls and women who do not have the opportunity to attend school, receive medical care, and do not live with adequate water and nutrition. When we adopted our daughter, we also adopted the beautiful people of Ethiopia into our hearts, and we hope to serve these wonderful girls through the support of various "Sparkle Projects."
My name is Alyssa and I am currently a sophomore in high school. At school I participate in Student Council and Key Club as well as the Dance Team. I began dancing when I was two years old, and have been traveling around the country with a competition team for the past 5 years. One of our inspirations for The Sparkle Project came as a result of the reactions we got after my 15th birthday party this past summer. My friends and I decided to spend the night completing 15 random acts of kindness around the community, and had such a great time watching how our small acts brought joy to others. By "shining our lights" we witnessed the "sparkle" effect in person. It is my hope that The Sparkle Project will inspire others to SHINE!
